Puppets of all sizes, masks and street theatre – these are our tools for social justice.

Puppets Et Cetera! has set itself the ongoing mandate to infuse art and performance into local activism as well as political discourses into local artistic events. These objectives are sought through accessible and amusing work that engages broader sectors of the community and stimulates creative and political thought in youth.

Our appetite for establishing a politically and community engaging puppet troupe in Halifax has in part been roused by the work of existing companies, such as Bread & Puppet Theatre in Vermont, and also by the desires and knowledge of the various activists and creators joining this collective.

We very grateful for the support provided to us by The Bus Stop Theatre and the Nova Scotia Public Interest Research Group (NSPIRG).

Our group is currently on hiatus. We’re planning to meet again in January 2014 to discuss future puppet plans. If you are interested in Puppets Et Cetera! please feel free to get in touch as we’ll aim to keep our lines of communication open while laying low.

We’re happy to keep spreading puppet love in Halifax and we have quite a few giant puppets and building materials squirreled away. If you want to borrow our puppets for your event please get in touch as we may be able to loan them to your group.
